QuickPar Operating Instructions
Installing QuickPar

QuickPar is supplied in the form of a .ZIP file containing the main QUICKPAR.EXE file plus copies of the documentation from this web site.

You should unzip the file into a convenient folder on your computer (such as C:\Program Files\QuickPar) and then double click on QUICKPAR.EXE. The first time QuickPar is run, it will display the Options dialogue where you can configure a number of settings.

In the Integration section you can control whether or not Windows should use QuickPar when you open PAR and PAR2 files in Windows Explorer or other applications, and the Integrate QuickPar into Shell option adds a entry to the right click menu in Windows Explorer that allows you to create new PAR2 files.

The Preferred block size section is only important if you will be creating PAR2 files. You should ensure that the settings match the way you have your UseNet newsposting software configured. If you do not use the correct values, anyone downloading your postings may find that they need an excessive amount of recover data.

The Default Priority setting determines how QuickPar cooperates with other applications running on your computer. If your computer has a single CPU, then it is probably best to set this to Idle, but if you have a dual CPU computer set it to Normal.
